Bruce Nesbitt

Bruce Nesbitt received his B.A. from Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota in 1973. From 1973 to 1979 he was a graduate student at the University of Michigan, where he received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economic geology. His Ph.D. research centered on a detailed study of the effects of regional metamorphism on massive sulfide deposits in Ducktown, Tennessee. In 1979 he received a National Science Foundation Fellowship for postdoctoral research, which he elected to pursue at Pennsylvania State University studying sulfidesilicate reactions. Nesbitt was appointed to the University of Alberta staff as an assistant professor in July 1980. In 1985, he was promoted to associate professor, and in July 1989 was promoted to professor.
