Roger Morton

(1967 - 1995)

Roger Morton, appointed in 1967, received his Bachelor of Science (Honours - 1st Class) Geology degree from the University of Nottingham, England in 1956 and a Ph.D. (Geology) from the University of Nottingham in 1959.

Prior to his arrival in Edmonton, Morton spent two years as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Oslo, Norway and five years as a Lecturer in Geology at the University of Nottingham. During the period 1961- 66 he was the leader of a group performing research in petrology and mineralogy in the southern Fenrioscandian Shield of Norway.

Morton was appointed as Professor of Economic Geology and Mineralogy in January 1967
